Barbara Meadows May
Western & Wildlife Art May's Way

About Barbara Meadows-May
While growing up in West Virginia, Barbara Meadows-May gained a great love for wildlife and beautiful scenery. After living in Colorado for a number of years, she now resides in Virginia and spends much of her time in her secluded mountain studio on Big Walker Mountain. It is here that her heart and life most intertwine while studying wildlife and its habitat.
Barbara began serious art training in 1971 while living in Oklahoma. She trained under two professional artists, Robert Lougheed and James Boren, and soon began pursuing her own career in professional painting.
In recent years, her paintings have been in several national juried wildlife competitions and are represented in galleries nationwide as well as in the countries of Germany and Denmark. Thirty-four of Barbara's paintings have been selected for the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources wildlife calendar - and many of these painting were the calendar covers for 1989, 1995, 2005, 2014 and 2015. Her most prestigious award was "Best in Show" for waterfowl in the 1989 Ducks Unlimited National Wildlife Art Show in Kansas City, Kansas.
Barbara is a generous supporter of Ducks Unlimited and other organizations by donating her art work for chartiable auctions. "It is my hope that my art may bring people closer to the awesome, but fragile, beauty of nature."
